Why I Use a Prepaid Visa Card from Green Dot
Recently I have started using a prepaid Visa from Green Dot and have to say that I love it. I will admit that it wasn't really by choice that I started using one, it was because I got into debt trouble with my credit card. However now that I am using a Green Dot card I really wish that I had made the switch years ago.
The main reason that I use a prepaid Visa card from Green Dot is quite frankly that I have credit problems that make it hard for me to get a regular credit card. There are probably ways that I could get one if I
really wanted but given how easy it is to get a Green dot credit card and the fact that I can use it anywhere that would use a regular credit card it hardly seems worth the effort. All I have to do is go to one
of the many stores that sell them and I can buy the card, when I need to add more money to the card I just go back to the store.
One of the reasons that I really don't want to get a credit card is that is what got me into trouble with my credit in the first place. I was making purchases with borrowed money that really shouldn't be made with borrowed money and I ended up with bills I couldn't pay. The huge interest on the credit cards of course just made this worse. With a Green Dot credit card this isn't a problem since you are not actually borrowing money. I can't go into debt since I have to deposit the money on the card first so there is no risk that I will make my debt problems any worse.
One of the great things I have discovered about Green Dot cards is that you really save a lot of money by not having to pay interest every month. When I need to add money to the card I am charged a small fee, other than this there is no cost to use the card. Compare this to the twenty something percent interest that I was paying on my credit card and the difference really adds up. This is turning out to be a real benefit.
I am also finding that not having to worry about paying a credit card bill really makes my life easier. Like most people I get lots of bills every month and honestly making sure that I get them all paid is a hassle and I often forget to pay something. When it is your credit card bill that you forget to pay the consequences can be pretty serious. Fortunately with Green Dot I no longer have to worry about this since I don't get a bill from them.
