ImageGay Somali Community
Somali Gay Community was established in 2005 by a small group of Somalian guys who, apart from sharing the same culture and background, acknowledge the fact that they are homosexuals living in the UK. The aim of the group is to create a space and medium for Somalian gay and lesbians to access information, share experiences and develop support networks. Largely an online forum, the group works to offer support to each other, to respond to common challenges together, and provide a network in the face of virulent and widespread homophobia. www.somaligaycommunity.org

ImagePink Paper
Pink Paper is Britain’s only national lesbian, gay and bisexual newspaper and the biggest circulating gay publication of any kind in the country. But it’s unique in many more ways than that. While it’s one of the oldest queer titles, founded in 1987, it now has one of the country’s most modern gay websites and we were the first title in the market to put citizen journalists at the forefront of what they do, through Your.PinkPaper.com. Pink Paper have made real efforts to cover stories affecting Black LGBT people and have been media sponsors for both UK Black Pride and Outburst Festival in 2008. www.pinkpaper.co.uk

ImageTrevor Blackman
Working as an artistic director is just one of many ways that Trevor Blackman keeps himself busy. He is also a radio producer, a youth and community manager and a fundraiser. Originally from Leicester and now living in London, he has worked in radio and television and as a youth consultant and a play/youth strategic manager. Trevor is Artistic Director of Ape Media. In 2008 he has produced a music video to raise awareness of the murder of Adam Regis, presented the Outburst Festival, and launched his ITV Local internet show.  He once said when asked if he had any wise words for someone who wants to be where he's at now: Do not take no for an answer. If you believe in something, don’t worry about how you are going to get there, just move in the first direction that makes sense and keep on going. Everything else will work itself out! www.ape-media.com
